Check your Facebook Privacy

Privacy is a big concern for Facebook users as they don't know who all can access their personnel information. Many users don't use those privacy settings as much effective, that makes their personnel information vulnerable for the outside world.

The Facebook Privacy Policy has grown from 1,004 words in 2004 to 5,830 words in 2010. And Facebook offers an in-depth Privacy FAQ page, with 45,000 words.

To maintain your privacy on Facebook, you have to navigate through 50 settings with more than 170 options. Facebook says it offers precise controls for sharing on the Internet.

As we know that 20% of divorces are because of Facebook, we need a better privacy so that we let only few people know our personnel info. Here is a few incidents of Facebook Privacies being revealed and see what happens http://blog.6rounds.com/epic-hysterical-facebook-fails/

So where do we go to check whether our profile is secure or not? I found a new Privacy check application which checks your Facebook privacy settings and reports you the results.
Visit the application at http://www.rabidgremlin.com/fbprivacy
It provides you a score out of 21 and categorize your ratings into three level Green, Yellow and Red:

1-If your score box is green then you have scored 21/21 and all your information is hidden from websites and the public. Excellent.

2-If your score box is yellow then you have locked down most of your information. Good stuff.

3-If your score box is red then your are exposing lots of your private information and you should immediately review your Facebook privacy settings.
Note: because Facebook does not let you hide all your information, you cannot get a score a perfect 21. With everthing locked down the best score that you are likely to achieve is 15/21 (unless you have not filled in profile information such as your gender, your likes or you don't have any friends; then you can score higher.)
