[How-Tos] Add .html Suffix to Joomla

Hi there, its been a long time since i posted. Its been a huge change over since i posted over few months ago. Now im going to post on how to change the Joomla url's to have the .html extension.

To do this login to your Joomla Administrative Panel via www.example.com/administrator

There you will find the 'Global Configuration' option, click on that. Now you will see a lot of configurations that are very important for your site and on the right side you will find two options
Use URL rewriting
Add suffix to URL

Turn both these options to 'Yes'. Now save the changes. Visiting your site now will result in 404 error, to remove this do the following,
  • Login to your Cpanel,
  • Go to file manager,
  • Rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess
and thats it now your site will run fine and your url will look more normal and search engine optimized.
